Should I get a diamond with fluorescence or not?

Diamonds are classified and valued not only from the 4 C's (Carat, Clarity, Color and Cut) but in some other characteristics such as fluorescence.  Fluorescence refers to how a diamond responds when exposed to ultra-violet light as its exposure can show colors like glow of blue, white, yellow, green or even in red.

If your diamond color is H, I or J then consider a diamond with Medium Blue Fluorescence.  This will make your stone look slightly whiter.  On the other hand, if you're planning to buy a diamond with a G or higher color, then experts suggest to find a diamond with either no fluorescence or faint fluorescence.  One of the fact that people needs to know about the diamond's fluorescence is that it only matters if you are in a dark rooms with black light lamps such as night clubs, horror houses, or indoor rides at a theme parks, etc.

Most of GIA or EGL certification shows the fluorescent grading of the diamond yet an expert would say that strong or very strong blue fluorescent diamonds are usually appear bright.  Medium Blue fluorescent diamonds are rarely to appear hazy and slight or faint blue fluorescent ones usually never appear hazy.  As a matter of fact, diamond's fluorescence usually improves the appearance of color in the stone.  So if you decide to buy a diamond in person, then diamond with strong blue fluorescence normally cost a bit cheaper than a diamond with no fluorescent.
